Virtual satellite ground station for RF security research

A desktop application that virtualizes satellite ground station antennas — GPredict integration, 3D antenna visualization, IQ signal file analysis, and multi-antenna beam pattern simulation. First of its kind.

The barrier to entry for satellite RF security research is steep: ground station hardware costs thousands of dollars, antennas need rotators, and even getting a usable signal requires deep RF knowledge. OpenVSA virtualizes the entire stack so researchers and students can experiment without owning a single piece of physical equipment.

An RF hacking wargame platform with fully virtualized satellite signal environments — receive, demodulate, and decode satellite signals through a browser. Includes antenna selection and direction adjustment.

The only RF CTF platform offering this level of signal virtualization. Currently 16 challenges live, ranging from FM radio identification to satellite signal eavesdropping.

Sole RF challenge designer + event operations for two consecutive years (2023, 2024)

Designed and authored all RF-domain challenges for the Hack-the-Drone CTF competition in 2023 and 2024, and helped run event operations across both years.

Drone hacking CTFs existed, but lacked realistic RF-layer challenges. Most drone security competitions focus on firmware or network layers, not the radio link. The challenges I designed gave participants hands-on experience with real RF exploitation techniques — signal interception, control link analysis, and counter-drone scenarios — in a competitive environment.
